Estimates, not quotes
Every number on homerenovationcostcalculator.com is a planning estimate, labeled Estimate (non-official). It is not a bid, a quote, a contract, or a promise of price. Your real cost depends on your home, your contractor, materials on the day you buy them, permits, access, hidden damage, and local market conditions. Get written bids from licensed contractors before you decide anything.
No professional advice
This site does not give construction, engineering, legal, tax, insurance, or financial advice. Nothing here replaces an inspection, a structural engineer, an architect, a licensed contractor, or a tax professional. Check licensing and insurance with your state before you hire anyone. State pages link the official licence lookup when the state publishes one.
Data sources and limitations
The calculators combine official figures, such as Bureau of Labor Statistics wage data and published state and local sales tax rates, with researched market price ranges. The [methodology page](/methodology/) explains how. Official figures are updated when the agencies publish new releases, so they can lag current conditions. Market price ranges come from published sources that can disagree with each other, and they may not match prices in your area. Errors are possible. If you find one, please tell us through the [contact page](/contact/).
Advertising and affiliate links
The site does not show ads or use affiliate links today. It may add advertising or affiliate links in the future. If it does, this page and the [privacy policy](/privacy-policy/) will be updated, and paid placements will not change how estimates are calculated.
Requests and follow-ups
The site is not a contractor. If you send a request through a calculator page, we review it and may connect you with a local pro when one is available. We do not guarantee that anyone will contact you, or any price or outcome.
Limitation of liability
You use the calculators and content at your own risk. See the [terms](/terms/) for the full terms of use.
